Operation of electric arc furnaces - uses controller for storing parameter states as binary values and bit rate durations

The parameter is measured and its future value controlled using a characteristic value of its statistically measured time variation. The control and measurement process is quasi-continuous and suitable for non-electrical parameters given suitable transducers. The instantaneous value of the stochastic parameter is given as a binary message 'given level exceeded' or 'level not exceeded' stored in a location associated with a measurement time. The messages are stored at equal intervals. They may be stored with their validity duration times.
