A lateral cover for a swash-plate compressor contains an annular member to form a high-pressure chamber and a sleeve with a flange to form a low-pressure chamber and to support a seal and bearings. The annular member is manufactured by drawing a steel plate, while the sleeve is formed by extruding iron. The annular member is provided with a V-shaped annular groove in a cylindrical inner section, the flange of the groove being inserted into the cylindrical inner section in such a way that the perimeter of the flange faces the annular groove. The flange is bonded to the annular member by the annular groove being filled with the material of the sleeve by metal-flowing. <IMAGE>
