<p>An arrangement for monitoring the level of liq. in a container is esp. for gear oil in a machine tool gearbox and has a measurement glass in contact with the liq. The liq. level is clearly and unambiguously determined from a glance at the glass. The rear of the glass, which is in contact with the oil, has a prismatic profile which reflects the light from the front of the glass reaching those parts of the rear wall of the glass not in contact with the oil. The viewing glass (3) may be made of a cylinder of glass or transparent plastics with the surface near the oil shaped into two mutually perpendicular flat reflection surfaces (9'). The front wall may have a light source (10) and photocell (11) directed toward the rear wall.</p> |
