Mine working shield support unit - has vertically swivelling deflecting plate hung on shield under roof cap

The shield support unit is used in an underground mine. A two-part floor skid and break shield are supported by two hydraulic cylinders and height-adjustably guided at the rear by rocker arms hinged on floor skid parts. A cantilevered roof cap is hinged to the shield open end, adjustably formed by a setting cylinder. Below the roof cap (6), it has a deflecting plate (12), fitted to suspension points (13) on the shield (3), with setting cylinders (14) to swivel it in a vertical plane. When fully swung out, this may enclose an acute angle with the roof cap.
