<p>The machine for cutting plate material such as strong glass, plastics, wood, metal etc., has a frame (1) with a horizontal work table (9) above which is supported a cutting wheel (7) rotating about a horizontal axis. The wheel and its drive can travel horizontally along an overhead guide (4) to make a cut from end to end of a plate (10). This guide is attached to a hinged frame (2) with its hinges (2) parallel to the guide. The work table is divided into two parts (14,15) with a central hinge (16) also parallel to the guide. This enables the table to be tilted for making bevel cuts. The part (14) of the table under the drive is attached to the tilting frame. The outer edge of the other part (15) is connected to a slider (18) which travels along a cross support (8), to tilt it, and a locking handle (17) at the slide secures it. The slide also incorporates slots (21,23) for the locking handle so that the second part (15) of the table can be instantly locked at angles of 45 or 30 degrees to the horizontal.</p> |
