<p>The automatic transmission with an overdrive control has the mechanical gearbox linked to an epicyclic overdrive by a servo clutch. The clutch is operated by a kickdown switch under the throttle pedal as well as by a manual overide switch in parallel. The manual overide allows full control of the vehicle so that e.g the higher gear can be set for downhill travel, or a lower gear selected for downhill braking. The overide applies a signal directly to the solenoid control valve linked to the kickdown switch.</p> |
