A damper rod of an engine mounting is designed in such a way that it forms two suspended masses, which are interconnected by elastomer devices, so that the rod has two resonance frequencies. The resonance frequencies are selected in such a way that they detect the vibration range in which resonance noises can occur in the passenger compartment, so that a first phase shift of the vibrations passing through the damper rod produces an interference with the vibration passing through the main mounting of the engine, in order to make the engine mounting softer overall and to absorb vibrations, which would otherwise lead to resonance noises in the passenger compartment. The effect of the second resonance overlaps with the first resonance in order to expand the softer behaviour of the engine mounting until the second phase shift has occurred. <IMAGE>
