PURPOSE:To obtain an optical data recording medium having excellent stability, by containing a specific compound in the recording layer provided on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer provided to at least the single surface of a substrate contains a compound represented by formula I (wherein X and Z is respectively independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent or may form a 5- or 6-membered ring, Y is a hydrogen atom or a substituent and R1-R6 are respectively independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent or may form a ring respectively independently). As the substrate, glass or plastic pervious to laser to be used is used and a dye membrane is formed, for example, by applying a solution prepared by dissolving the dye represented by the formula I in an org. solvent and adding a binder to the resulting solution if necessary or by the vacuum vapor deposition of said dye. |
