The interface is used for transferring data between receiver terminals at central control units on computer etc., pref. within a telephone extension network and factory terminal units. The system provides exchange of data at a very high data transmission rate e.g. by the current-loop process, and yet avoids the high noise level associated with this transmission method, making possible the use of standard equipment. In the process, each square-wave output pulse corresp. to a data bit and derived from the primary transmission network is converted into a stair-case sinewave, and the sequential waveforms, after smoothing are taken via a transmission line to a receiver-transducer stage, wherein reconversion into the square-wave sequence takes place. The recovered square waveform is then supplied to the receiver of the primary transmission network.
