PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which has high connection strength and excellent high-frequency characteristics as well as wear resistance, by forming a magnetic thin film at some part of the surface of the 1st connection body and by making a connection with the 2nd connection body with low-melting-point connecting glass having specific composition. CONSTITUTION:An upper magnetic body 11 faces a magnetic material substrate 10 across a nonmagnetic insulator layer 16, and a nonmagnetic material substrate 13 is connected to the magnetic substrate 10 through glass melt-stuck layer 12 with composition (weight rate) shown in the table. On the magnetic material substrate 10, a thin-film coil 14 is provided and covered partly with the upper magnetic body 11, and on a protective layer 18, the substrates 13 and 10 are bonded with the glass melt-stuck layer 12. In a groove 15, a nonmagnetic material (glass) 17 is packed. The magnetic material layer 11 has an easy magnetization axis perpendicular to a paper surface, and it crosses at right angles the flow of magnetic flux (signal magnetic field from magnetic medium) produced by a magnetic circuit composed of the magnetic material layer 11 and magnetic material substrate 10 through a gap 16. Consequently, a magnetic thin-film head which has excellent frequency response of magnetization in a hard magnetization axis and excellent high frequency operation is obtained. |
