The shaft for the wheel mechanism of an electric clock carries a minor wheel (5) engaging the seconds drive (11) and driving the minutes wheel (9) and a conversion wheel (8) lying between the minutes drive (10) and the hours wheel (19). One end of the shaft projects from the clock housing and has a conical knob section (1) to allow it to be used as a setting stem, with a slip coupling between the shaft and the minor wheel (5). The shaft and its setting knob (1) together with the slip coupling section (4) for the minor wheel (5) and the pivot pin (7) at the opposite end of the shaft carrying the conversion wheel (8) comprises a one-piece plastics moulding.
