PURPOSE:To increase the capacity of a button-type battery by weighing granular silver oxide or silver peroxide by the measure, forming the weighed grains into a pelletlike body by preliminary molding, and subjecting the pelletlike body put in a positive can be compression molding. CONSTITUTION:Granules of silver oxide or silver peroxide with a grain diameter of 35-150mesh are put in a metal mold after being weighed by the measure, before they are molded into pelletlike form. Thus molded pelletlike body is placed in a positive can 1 and is compressed again, thus a positive electrode 2 being obtained. A separator 3 is placed on the electrode 2. After that, a negative can 5 packed with a negative electrode 4 is placed on the separator 3, with a gasket 6 interposed between the positive and the negative cans 1 and 5, before the end of the positive can 1 is inwardly curved to caulk the battery. By the means mentioned above, the packed density of the positive material can be made high since the granulated active material is weighed and molded. Besides, any influence of carbonate silver contained in the air, which might contaminate grains made of the active material during the time when the usually used powder is granulated with pre- pressure and the granulated active material is sieved into the grains of a given diameter, can be prevented. Consequently, a battery which has a positive can packed with an equally distributed positive electrode, which closely touches the inner wall of the positive can, can be obtained. |
