PURPOSE:To improve the shelf stability by adding a developing agent to a polymer applied layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:A polymer dissolved in an org. solvent is applied to a support to form a layer, and to the layer is added a developing agent and/or a precursor of the agent. On the layer, a silver halide emulsion layer is formed. The polymer is a vinyl acetate homopolymer, a copolymer of vinyl acetate and other vinyl monomer or a (meth)acrylic ester homo- or copolymer, and it is applied by 0.5-20g/m<2>. The developing agent or the precursor is dissolved in the polymer soln. so as to obtain 0.05-5g/m<2> concn. The polymer layer is applicable to an under coat layer for the silver halide emulsion layer. Thus, staining and deterioration in sensitometry due to the production of oxide can be prevented. |
