摘要 PURPOSE:To increase the current density per unit area of an electrode, and facilitate the recovery of a fuel which has not undergone any reaction by setting the operational temperature of a fuel cell body at over the boiling point of a liquid fuel, and by maintaning the fuel contained in the cell body at a liquid state. CONSTITUTION:A cell body consists of a fuel chamber 1, a fuel electrode 2, an electrolyte 3, an air electrode 4 and an air chamber 5. The temperature of the cell body, which can be maintained constant by adjusting the wind amount of a blower 12, rises according to the heat developed by exothermic reaction carried out in the cell body. The pressure within the fuel chamber 1 is restricted to a given value by controlling both the pressurization with a fuel pump 7 and the depressurization with an adjuting valve 11. The temperature within the fuel chamber 1 is maintained at over the boiling point (65 deg.C) of methanol used as a liquid fuel. A mixture of methanol and sulfuric acid is maintained at a liquid state by applying increased pressure, and circulates through a heat exchanger 9, a fuel recovery pump 10 and a heat exchanger 8.
