PURPOSE:To shorten a transmission time greatly by performing alternate interlaced scanning on horizontal scanning lines at a transmission side and by using preceding horizontal scanning lines at a reception side instead of horizontal scanning lines which were not transmitted owing to the interlaced scanning. CONSTITUTION:At a transmission side, the image of a still picture 1 is picked up 2 and horizontal scanning lines subjected to alternate interlaced scanning are written in a picture memory 3 at a high speed. For this purpose, the contents of the memory 3 are read at a low speed to obtain a time-stretched narrow-band signal, which is FM-modulated by a modulator 5 to transmit the modulated signal through a narrow- band transmission line 6. A receiver 7, on the other hand, receives the transmitted signal and writes a picture signal, obtained by demodulation 8, in a picture memory 9 at a low speed. The contents of this memory 9 are read out at a high speed to obtain a broad-band signal by time compression. In this case, a control circuit 10 reads picture signals of the same horizontal scanning line twice continuously and a monitor picture receiver 11 reproduces them. |
