摘要 PURPOSE:To give the difference of light transmittance in case of the regeneration of recording between a recording section and a section not recorded, and to enable low energy recording, high S/N ratio regenerative property, etc. by a method wherein the unevenness of a fixed period is formed on the surface of a recording medium, and the deformation of the unevenness is utilized. CONSTITUTION:When recording rays 7 having optical strength by which a section, which is irradiated by rays, of a recording layer 1 consisting of a light transmitting low softening point material can be softened sufficiently are projected to the convex section 2'' (the recording section), the convex section 2'' is softened and fluidized and the thickness of the convex section of the recording section 6 is thinned to d2 from d1, but the thickness d1 of a convex section 2' and 2''' and the thickness of concave sections which do not adjoin to the convex section 2'' do not change, thus recording information. When rays for regeneration having strength in an extent that the recording layer 1 is not softened are irradiated to the layer 1 in order to regenerate information from the recording medium, transmitted rays are weakened remarkably because a course of regenerating incident rays 8 projected to the convex section 2' is long, but transmitted rays are strong because a course of regenerating incident rays 9 to the recording section 6 is short, thus regenerating recorded information by utilizing the difference of the transmittance.
