Self-supporting polymeric diffusion matrix comprises 2-60% polar plasticiser (I), 6-20% polyvinyl alcohol (II), 2-10% polyvinylpyrrolidone (III) together with ephedrine (IV). The matrix is suitable for prolonged release of (IV) transdermally to achieve a decongestant effect. Dose is 5-30 mg. (IV) daily (i.e. lower than the usual oral dosage). |
