PURPOSE:To make high screw down rolling possible and to reduce the occurrence of chamber and edge drop by incorporating a rolling mill given with a diametral difference to upper and lower rolling rolls on the upper stream side than the final stand, in a tandem type rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:One or more units of rolling mills given a diametral difference in rolling rolls are disposed on the upper stream side than the final stand of a tandem type rolling mill. A cluster roll 31 is disposed on the upper stream side of this rolling mill, and a work roll 35 of a large diameter is disposed on the down side. The cluster roll 31 is of the construction wherein a small diameter work roll 32 is supported by three backup rolls 34 by way of two intermediate rolls 33. This makes it possible to apply the tension of inlet side T1 and outlet side T2 to a rolling material S, and if necessary, to pass the rolling material S by bending the same with bending rolls 36, 37. Also, the equivalent roll diameter is decreased and rolling load is reduced. |
