<p>The hydraulic ram-actuated hole-punch is for use on sheet metal, being particularly designed for tight access situations on automobile body work. The punch body locates a matrix and a spring piston which grips the sheet, the piston being traversed by a punch holder which slides in a direction normal to the matrix. In addition the body locates the ram which can rock in a plane containing its major axis and parallel to the major body faces. The end of the ram rod is pinned to the longer arm of an assymetric rocking lever which is itself pinned to the body, the three fulcrums being parallel and normal to the longitudinal ram axis. The shorter arm of the rocking lever provides a concave head which contacts a reciprocal contouring of the end of the punch holder, and the head may be positively located by a threaded pin.</p> |
