Steel sealing ring for sparking plugs - fits in recessed pillar to shoulder junction and has flexible tongues pushed over pillar threads

The sealing ring is for the shoulder to threaded pillar section of the sparkling plugs. The ring is applicable where the threaded section stop short of the shoulder leaving a slightly recessed annulus at the junction. The ring has an approximate 'S' shaped section in sheet steel providing three sealing surfaces and a sufficiently open form to allow the synthetic resin compound used later in the mfr. of the plug to flow easily within it. The lowest limb (37) of the 'S' is opened inward to provide an equally spaced set of sprung tongues (41) which are forced over the pillar threads into the recessed section by a cylindrical tool (43) such that the lower limb is forced against the shoulder.
