PURPOSE:To obtain a steel plate which does not produce nodular scale by subjecting a hot rolled stainless steel of specific composition to hot annealing and descaling respectively under specific conditions, and subjecting the same to specific hot solubilizing treatment after cold rolling. CONSTITUTION:A 13 Cr stainless steel contg. 0.15-0.40% C, 0.5-1.5% Si, <=1.0% Mn, <=0.04% P, <=0.03% S, 11.5-14.0% Cr, 0.2-0.6% Ni, and <=0.035 N, and the balance consisting of Fe and unavoidable impurities is hot rolled. Next, it is hot annealed at 725-900 deg.C in the atmosphere, in gaseous H2, in a gaseous mixture of N2 and H2 contg. >=3vol% H2, or in an inert gas. The descaling in succession to this is accomplished by scarfing by pickling or grinding >=2mu. Further, after it is cold rolled, the surface roughness just before hardening is made <=1mu in Hmax. and it is subjected to hot solubilizing treatment at 900-1,150 deg.C, after which it is air cooled or is cooled at cooling rates higher than the air cooling. |
