<p>Manure, refuse etc. may be rendered odourless by bringing it into contact with an aq. soln. contng. an SO3-ion releasing cpd. in the form of Na- or pref. K-pyrosulphite or Na- or pref. K-hydrogensulphite, pref. together with formaldehyde. The deodorising action of the soln. is increased by adding a redox agent such as FeSO4. Solns. contain pref. 350g SO3-ion releasing cpd. and 3 g redox agent per 1L water. Application at 0.1g SO3-ion releasing cpd. and 0.0025 g redox agent per 1 kg manure. The solns. may be used on dairy farms, pig-and chicken farms, septic tanks, in tankers before spreading maure on the land, in the drains, refuse tips etc. The agents are simple to use, effective during drainage, storage and spreading and add fertilising properties to the manure.</p> |
