<p>A ketonic ester of formula (II): <CHEM> wherein Y is as defined with respect to formula (I); and R represents a C3-20 alkyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, C4-20 alkenyl, aralkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, heterocyclyl or heterocyclylalkyl group, which group is substituted with a ketonic oxo group, has antibacterial and antimycoplasmal activity and is of value in the treatment of bacterial and mycoplasma-induced human and veterinary diseases.</p> |
