PURPOSE:To shorten recording time and to make a head smaller by setting the thermal-printing ribbons of different colors and the plural heat-generating parts opposing to them and another heat-generating part recording black picture elements directly on the recording paper and driving those heat-generating parts selectively. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 1 has the four heat-generating parts and the heat-generating part 1b heats a thermal-printing paper 4 and develops black color picture elements directly, the other heat-generating parts 1c, 1m, 1y are faced to the ink ribbons 3c, 3m, 3y and print cyan, magenta, yellow respectively on the recording paper 4. And a clearance is formed between each heat-generating part to prevent pressing of the ribbons 3 and the recording paper 4. In time of recording, first the heat-generating part 1y records yellow picture elements on the 1st-8th lines of the recording paper 4. On that occasion the thermal element of the heat- generating part is driven selectively according to color data of the picture elements to be recorded. Next, the heat-generating part opposing to the 1st-8th lines commences to record each color elements in sequence of 1m 1c 1b. |
