<p>PURPOSE:To prepare pindolol in high yield and simply, by hydrolyzing 4-isopropyl- 6-(1H-indol-4-yloxy)methyl-morpholino-2,3-dione as a raw material under alkaline conditions. CONSTITUTION:4-Isopropyl-6-(1H-indol-4-yloxy)methyl-morpholino-2,3-dione expressed by formula I as a raw material is hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions, e.g. 10-30% solution of potassium hydroxide in ethanol or sodium hydroxide solution, to give 4-[2-hydroxy-3-(isopropylamino)-propoxy]-indole (pindolol) expressed by formula II. The raw material compound expressed by formula I is prepared from 4-hydroxyindole and a 4-isopropyl-6-halomethyl-morpholino-2,3-dione.</p> |
