PURPOSE:To obtain a battery which has an excellent preservation life and can provide high-rate discharge by using a negative electrode made of lithium, and a positive electrode made of a shifting charge complex prepared by adding iodine to a copolymer containing polyvinyl pyridine. CONSTITUTION:A battery is constituted by the combination of a negative electrode 2 made of lithium, a positive electrode 1 made of a shifting charge complex, which is prepared by adding iodine to a copolymer containing polyvinyl pyridine. A solid electrolyte highly conducting ions is produced in the contact interface between the positive and the negative electrodes 1 and 2. The former copolymer is preferably a copolymer consisting of either poly-4-vinyl pyridine or poly-2-vinyl pyridine and either styrene or acrylonitrile, or a copolymer consisting of poly-4-vinyl pyridine and either divinyl benzene or vinyl chloride. For instance, the positive electrode 1 is prepared by adding 50wt% of iodine to a copolymer consisting of poly-4-vinyl pyridine and styrene in a ratio of 7:3. Consequently, a battery which provides stable high-rate discharge for a long period of time is obtainable. |
