PURPOSE:To eliminate the distortion of the electron beam deflection thus to improve the focusing, by employing a beam take-out electrode having a slit-shaped through- hole, first deflection electrode, and a beam control electrode and second deflection electrode crossing perpendicularly with the first deflection electrode. CONSTITUTION:The electron beam from a linear hot cathode 14 is taken out by a grid electrode 15 made with a slit-shaped through-hole 16 then deflected by the first deflection electrode 17 perpendicularly against the surface of its electrode board 19. Then it is passed through second and third electrodes 20, 21 having slit-shaped through-holes 24, 25 crossing perpendicularly with the hot cathode 14 and a control electrode 23 comprising a modulation electrode 22, while second deflection electrode 26 where the electrode chips 26a are arranged in stripe is below. Then an indication board 27 is allowed to emit light through an acceleration electrode 28. Since quite thin ribbon beam is formed and the vertical and horizontal focusing can be performed independently, the distortion of the deflection can be reduced considerably. |
