PURPOSE:To improve the performance of rolling work and to control the shapes or rolled materials effectively by moving intermediate rolls to a roll axial direction thereby bringing the boundary perpendicular faces where work rolls and reinforcing rolls contact and do not contact to the neighborhood on the respective lateral perpendicular faces of the rolled material. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill supporting upper, lower work rolls 2, 3 having >=12% ratio between roll diameter/body length by means of upper, lower reinforcing rolls, an intermediate roll 11 is moved to operation side and an intermediate roll 12 to driving side in the roll axial direction. The circular conical roll ends 13, 14 formed to a convergent shape of the rolls 11, 12 are disposed respectively in the positions corresponding to both end parts of a rolled material 1. Then, the boundary perpendicular faces formed by the rolls 11, 12 and where the rools 2, 3 and the rolls 26, 28 contact and to not contact come to the neighborhood on the respective lateral perpendicular faces 1A, 1B of the rolled material. Hence, the deformation of the rolls 2, 3 by the rolls 26, 28 and the excessive rolling of the material 1 by both ends thereof are prevented. |
