The device is intended for internal combustion engines which are operated with petrol and comprises a pipe line (14), which connects a chamber (12) filled only with air and fuel vapour from the fuel tank (1) to the intake or injection system of the engine. The pipe line (14) contains a non-return element (15) which allows gas to flow to the engine but prevents a flow in the opposite direction. The fuel tank (1) is hermetically sealed; its internal chamber is connected to the atmosphere by a pipe (8), which ends in the bottom part of the tank. Use in motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
