MANUFACTURE OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To manufacture a magnetic recording medium by a longitudinal sputtering method which can control the composition rate of alloy easily. CONSTITUTION:The surface 1a of a base plate 1 and the surface 2a of an alloy target 2 are arranged longitudinally, and the alloy target 2 is complsed of a metallic body 4 of transition body and a cylindrical small piece 6a of rare earth metal fitted in some or all of many cylindrical small recessed parts 5 formed in the surface 4a of the metallic body; and the base plate 1 arranged at an anode side is covered with a thin film of magnetic alloy from the said alloy target arranged at a cathode side by a cathode sputtering method.
