摘要 PURPOSE:To generate gaseous chlorine at relatively low voltage with small current efficiency by using a satd. aq. NaCl soln. as an electrolytic soln. and providing a means of neutralizing NaOH produced by electrolysis with a low molecular org. acid. CONSTITUTION:A satd. aq. NaCl soln. is used as an electrolytic soln. 7 in the electrolytic cell body 1 of a gaseous chlorine generator and crystal grains 9 of a low molecular org. acid such as oxalic acid as a neutralizing agent is put in the soln. 7. When electric current is supplied to positive and negative electrodes 3, 4 from a DC power source 2, gaseous chlorine is generated from the positive electrode 3 and fed to a user from the discharge hole 5. Gaseous hydrogen generated from the negative electrode 4 is naturally released from the exhaust port 6. In accordance with the progress of electrolysis, NaOH is produced in the electrolytic soln. 7. This NaOH is successively neutralized with the org. acid 9 and the concn. is kept low to accelerate the generation of gaseous chlorine. The cell body 1 has been divided with a partition wall 8 of porous ceramics or the like. The generator can be widely utilized to sterilize pool or bath water, to bleach washing and to deodorize a garbage bucket.
