PURPOSE:To write information on an index corresponding to the recording section of an optional main signal, by writing the index information according to the duty value of a control signal. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recorder and reproducer capable of recording and reproducing a main signal and a control signal independently is provided with a means of supplying a recording means for the control shgnal with a recorded signal which making the duty ratio of the control signal, recorded on the control track TRC of a magnetic recording medium 2, different from a normal value. In an optional period during reproducing operation for the main sogmal, the duty ratio of the control signal is made different according to an external command signal to write index information. |
