PURPOSE:To prevent fixing temp. from lowering down to an unfixable temp. and achieve less power consumption of a fixing device and better copying efficiency by detecting the temp. in the fixing device and controlling the intervals of paper feeding. CONSTITUTION:A temp. detector 8 is provided in a fixing device 1, and a heater 2 and a driving motor 4 are controlled by a detection signal (a). Now, when the temp. of the device 1 lowers down to around the lower limit of fixing, a paper feed signal is stopped by the signal (a) of the detector 8 via a control circuit 4, and during this time, the temp. of the device 1 rises to restore the fixing temp., then the paper feeding is resumed. Namely, when it lowers to around the lower limit temp., the intervals of paper feeding are made longer to prevent the fixing temp. from lowering down to an uncopiable temp. Therefore, as far as it is above the lower limit temp. at which fixing is feasible, copying is possible, and this makes copying start time faster than heretofore, resulting in correspondingly reduced power consumption. Since the fixing temp. is restored by changing the intervals of paper feeding, the efficiency of copying is higher. |
