<p>PURPOSE:To accurately detect the contact of rolling rolls indirectly by operating the mutual relations of the distance between specific changing movable members in a rolling mill which is not provided with any rolling load meter. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill for wire rod or bar steel which is not provided with any rolling load meter, the change in the descending distance A of screw rods 2 for adjusting roll gap from the state when the gap of upper, lower rolls 3, 4 can be checked until they contact under pressure is measured. Also, the distance B between the necks of the rolls 3, 4 and the distance C between checks are measured. Further, the distance D between the bottom surface of the top wall of a housing 1 and the end part of the roll 3 is measured. These measured values are then inputted to an arithmetic device, by which the mutual relation of the change in A and the change in B, similarly the relation of A and C, the relation of D and B, and the relation of D and C are operated, and the contact of the rolls is detected through a comparator.</p> |
