VARIABLE VOLTAGE REACTOR STARTER

PURPOSE:To enable a voltage at a single terminal to change in several steps before being supplied to a motor by a method wherein a coil on a closed magnetic circuit is provided with a load terminal at a location anywhere between the two ends of the coil. CONSTITUTION:A coil T1-T2 is wound on a closed magnetic circuit iron core 1 and a load terminal (a) is located at a point in the middle portion of the coil T1-T2. The two ends of the coil T1-T2 are respectively connected to the power supply through switches S1 and S2. The terminal (a) is connected to the power supply through an operating switch S3, and to a motor M. To energize the motor M, the switches are sequentially shifted in the order S1-S3 so that the voltage supplied to the motor M may be gradually stepped up. This enables a single terminal to supply a motor with a voltage that can be changed in a multiple number of steps.
