1536529 Film-splicing HAMA HAMAPHOT KG HANKE & THOMAS 9 June 1977 [3 July 1976] 24195/77 Heading G2E Adhesive foil assembly 7, for splicing abutting film ends in a splicing apparatus, comprises adhesive foil portions 13 and 14, detachable connecting foil portion 15 and protective hair pin paper strips 9 and 10, foil portion 13 being first applied to the upper side of abutting ends of films 1 and 2 between raised sound tracks 4 and 5 (after removal of strip 9) and foil portion 14 being secondly applied to the lower side of the abutting ends (after removal of strip 10), foil portion 15 thereafter being detached. Films 1 and 2 to be spliced are first placed with overlapping ends between rails 25 and 26 on a hinged flap 21 of the splicing apparatus, the films being located by pins 30 and 31 (mating with stepping holes 6 on the flap) and the films then being held by spring- biased clamping fingers 43 and 44 and abutting ends formed by knife 46 in hinged lid 20. Flap 21 has an opening across which extends a pin 41 and which accommodates a projection 32 on base 19. Projection 32 carries pin 34 and prong pairs 37/38 and 39/40. Foil assembly 7 is then placed over pin 34 (mating with hole 36 in paper strip 10) and pairs of prongs 37 - 40 (mating with holes 17 and 18 in paper strips 9 and 10), paper strip 9 removed manually and foil 13 brought into adhesive contact with films 1/2. Flap 21 is then inverted by being swung about pivot 24, paper strip 10 remaining attached to pin 34 and foil portion 15 being bent at right angles to films 1/2 by the coaction of pin 41 and the upwardly extending edge of ledge 48. Foil portion 14 is then attached to the lower side of films 1/2 and foil portion 15 detached by the successive action of spring-biased shoe 62 and rigid wedge 53 on rotation of spring-biased manual presser 51 about pivot 50. |
