<p>PURPOSE:To reduce deviations of amount of filled up air among cylinders of an engine by constituting a suction system for the engine such that each of two suction pipes is further branched into two branch pipes and ignitions in cylinders communicated with these branch pipes are equally displaced from each other in phase by a crank angle of 180 deg.. CONSTITUTION:First and second suction pipes 4, 5 branched from a suction port 3 are further branched to first branch pipes 6, 8 and second branch pipes 7, 9, respectively. Then, eight cylinders including right bank cylinders 1 and left bank cylinders 2 are classified into odd numbered and even numbered ignition order groups C, D. Cylinders I, III of the C group are connected to the first branch pipe 6 while cylinders V, VII are connected to the second branch pipe 7. Further, cylinders IV, VI are connected to the first branch pipe 8 while cylinders II, VIII are connected to the second branch pipe 9. Thus, as all the four cylinders of each of left and right cylinder banks effect their suction strokes which are equally displaced from each other in phase by a crank angle of 180 deg., pressure vibrations in both suction pipes 4, 5 correspond to four equally displaced main pressure vibrations and hence deviations of amont of filled up air among the cylinders can be eliminated thereby.</p> |
