发明名称 SURFACE TREATMENT OF MATERIAL FOR SPACER
摘要 PURPOSE:To manufacture a spacer capable of elongating the life of a liq. crystal by sticking a condensate obtd. by condensing several molecules of ethyl orthosilicate to the surface of a material for the spacer and forming a silicon dioxide film by heating. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of spacers 15 arranged between the 2 electrode plates 13, 14 of a liq. crystal display device so as to make the thickness of a liq. crystal layer uniform, at least 1 kind of tetramer, pentamer or hexamer condensate represented by the formula, etc. and obtd, by condensing several molecules of ethyl silicate in a straight chain or branched state is stuck to the surface of a material for the spacers such as cylindrical glass fiber 21 by dipping, coating or other method. The material 21 is then heated to form a silicon dioxide film 22 having about 100- 5,000Angstrom thickness on the surface. Thus, the desired spacers 15 are obtd.
