PURPOSE:To enhance the thermal impact and wear resistaces by providing a martensite structure to the surface of a forged Fe alloy contg. a prescribed amount of C, Si, Mn, Ni, etc. CONSTITUTION:A roll for hot rolling is made of forged alloy consisting of, by wt., 0.45-0.6% C, 0.8-1.3% Si, 0.3-0.6% Mn, 1.8-2.5% Ni, 3-3.5% Cr, 0.15- 0.3% Mo and the balance Fe. Said alloy is melted, forged, annealed and broken down, and prior to final finish working heat treatment for hardening and tempering is carried out to provide a martensite structure to the roll surface. Since the resulting roll has thermal impact and wear resistances, it is suitable for use especially as an edger roll of a planetary mill. |
