PURPOSE:To obtain a reflecting aluminum mirror having superior corrosion resistance by providing the reflective aluminum layer and a light-transmissive inorganic oxide layer, whose pores are sealed with the carboxylate of ion-group metal, successively on a base having an unionized circumferential surface. CONSTITUTION:On one surface of a base 11 having an unionized circumferential surface, a smoothing layer 12 for smoothing the surface of the base 11 is formed at need. This smoothing layer 12 is formed by applying and hardening or baking an inorganic substance paint. The surface of the base 11 or smoothing layer 12 if necessary is coated under vacuum with an aluminum layer 13 constituting a reflective layer. The layer 13 is formed preferably to a 500-2,000Angstrom thickness. On the surface of the reflective layer 13, a light-transmissive inorgaic oxide layer 14 is formed by vacuum coating. The layer 14 is preferably of 0.5-5mum thickness. Since the protective layer 14 is porous, its pores are sealed by treating the protective layer 14 with an aqueous solution of the carboxylate of ion-group metal having a low valence, thus obtaining a reflecting layer 10. |
