<p>PURPOSE:To prevent production of a defective product and to improve production efficiency, by a method wherein a sensor head, being capable of optically measuring the length and the diameter of a drill blade held on each main spindle is connected to a controller, and the controller is connected to a numerical control device. CONSTITUTION:A sensor head 23, being capable of optically measuring the length and the diameter of a drill blade 1 held on each main spindle, is provided. The sensor head 23 is connected to a controller 25, having a computer, through an optical fiber 24, and the controller 25 is connected to a numerical control device to form an automatic measuring device for the length and the diameter of a drill blade 2. This constitution measures the length and the diameter of the drill blade 1 held on the main spindle of a boring machine, when, as a result, the drill 1 is improper, the operation of the boring machine is automatically stopped by means of the numerical control device, and an alarm can be reported by means of a buzzer or a rotary lamp and other like device. This constitution enables prevention of the production of a defective product, and permits improvement of production efficiency.</p> |
