The subject of the invention is an injection nozzle for fuel in the nature of a pintle nozzle with an outlet, through which fuel can pass into the combustion chamber or a prechamber of the latter when a valve element is lifted off from a valve seat. The valve element is provided with a pintle, which projects through the outlet and carries a deflector, which is provided with a frustum shaped deflection surface, which is arranged so that the annular jet of fuel leaving the outlet strikes the deflection surface and is thereby atomised with a fine distribution. The deflection surface has at least one lateral flattening in order to allow a part of the fuel past the deflection surface to enter into the combustion air of the combustion or prechamber with high energy.
