The present invention relates to the field of transformation of organic materials by microbial process with the aim to produce fuel gas and the object of which is a fermentor of the type wherein the containers of the fermentable material circulate in a closed fermentation enclosure. According to the present invention said containers are floating capacities (5) referred to "barges" intended to float at the surface of the water contained in said enclosure conformed into a "basin". As a result, there is achieved particularly a substantial simplification of the structure of the containers and the enclosure, minimum cost of energy for moving the containers, and a very good operating reliability since the assembly comprises a minimum number of mechanical parts. Applications particularly to the production of fuel gas from manure, liquid manure or other agricultural wastes.
