Leaded stained glass window with high mechanical strength - where coloured patterns on one pane are covered by second pane and sealed by glue and outer lead frame

Two panes of glass are used; and at least one surface (I) of one pane is stained or coloured in a known way to form patterns of several different colours. The edge of this pane is provided with a continuous layer of glue and the second pane is placed on surface (I). Both panes have the same size. Flat strips of Pb are then glued on the outer surfaces of both panes along the joint lines between the zones of different colours. Finally, a Pb frame with a U-shaped cross-section is located round the periphery of the assembly. The advantage is that the stained zones are sealed to the atmos., and cannot be damaged when the window is cleaned; the window also has a high mechanical strength.
