The contact arrangement for a thyristor or other semiconductor includes a ring surrounding the contact with a cylinder mounted axially through the ring. A connecting wire is attached to the cylinder, and a spring presses the contact down onto the thyristor capsule. A second cylinder surrounds the first and is insulated from the outer ring by a layer of alumina. The second cylinder forms an additional contact on the thyristor, and is pressed downwards by a number of Belleville washers situated above the cylinder. The washers also make contact with a second connecting wire surrounded by an insulating sleeve. The support for a semiconductor ensures good thermal contact between the semiconductor and a copper block to facilitate heat dissipation. A layer of silver may be used under the semiconductor to make thermal contact with the copper block.
