Multicolour information display CRT for aircraft - uses screen coated on area with different colour compounds to provide separate monochrome display areas

The tube displays navigational information on an aircraft flight deck and has a coated screen (1) with a number of different colour compounds each covering a different region (S1-7) of the screen. One of the compounds forms the background display while each of the others covers a specific area of the screen, each compound providing a unique monochrome image when scanned by the tube electron gun. Stable colours are provided in a simplified single gun tube without a shadow mask. A constant voltage H.T. supply is used with a video pass band of that of the video display. The colouring compounds define N zones, N-1 of which have a predetermined dimensions. The Nth zone covers the complementary region.
