PURPOSE:To obtain the titled extruded foam, having excellent heat resistance and suitable as food containers for microwave ovens, etc., by extruding and expanding a copolymer of methacrylamide and styrene in the presence of a specific amount of a foaming agent. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. methacrylamide based copolymer, consisting of 5-60mol.%, preferably 10-45mol.% methacrylamide and 40-95mol.%, preferably 55-90mol.% styrene and having 0.1-0.5 specific viscosity is extruded and expanded in the presence of 2-30pts.wt. foaming agent (e.g. ammonium bicarbonate). |
