A signal generator for monitoring the flow of liq. in the pipe systems of household equipment is esp. applicable to dishwashers or driers. It is a partic. simply-constructed device which is reliable in operation. A tubular housing (2) in one of the pipes has a sinking body (6) which can move within the housing and presents a resistance to the flow of liq. The sinking body carries a magnet (13) which has an associated gas-protected contact (14). The sinking body has a lift distance limiting fitting (9). In its rest position the wider part (12) of its axial rod (7) is positioned in the inlet port (4) of the housing. The limiters are sprung tongue-shaped fittings which allow the body to be inserted through the ports (4,5).
