PURPOSE:To eliminate effect of variation in the reflectance by coating a slab with a paint to stabilize the emissivity thereof. CONSTITUTION:The surface temperature of a slab 5 is measured with a radiation thermometer 4 each provided on the incoming side of a heating zone 11 and on the incoming side of a soaking zone 12. The surface of the slab 5 is coated with a paint by a coater 9 to stabilize the emissivity of the slab surface. The paint shall be resistant to heat and able to stabilize the emissivity. For example, the use of a silicon-based paint and a velvet coating material can stabilize the slab surface with the emissivity of about 0.9 thereby enabling accurate measurement of temperature. |
