Pole wheel for permanent magnet generator - has modular magnetic system formed from pole packet produced from single stamping

The oole wheel (10) has a magnetic system inserted in the periphery of the wheel as a preformed module. The pole packet (14) is formed from a single sheet metal stamping formed to define reception pockets (10,17) for a pair of permanent magnets (12,13), each lying between a pair of pole shoes (14a,14b,14c). The bridging sections (18) joining the pole shoes (14a,14b,14c) are only removed after fitting the module into the pole wheel block (11). Pref. the bridging sections (18) are removed by milling an elongate slot at the outer side of each permanent magnet (12,13) to obtain two separate pole shoes (14a,14b,14c) on either side of it. The magnetic system ensures that there is practically no air-gap between the pole faces of the permanent magnets (12,13) and the pole shoes (14a,14b,14c).
